Originally, there were only two distinct types of credit card:
(1) Traditional credit cards, where money was actual provided as a loan.
(2) Charge cards, where the full balance owed was repaid in full at the end of each month.
However many new types of credit cards have emerged with different features and benefits. From the popularity and wide acceptance of credit cards, spawned Debit credit cards, Reward credit cards, Gas cards, Retail cards and Prepaid credit cards, to name a few.
Consumers today have the luxury to find the perfect credit card for their need, within reason. It is important to fully understand they type of credit card your getting, and the strengths and weaknesses of that card. You must also consider your current credit score, as it may impact the types of credit cards that will be offered to you, and the interest rate that you must pay for them.
