A Debit card is not really a credit card, it just holds the name "credit card". Like a true credit card, a debit card is a piece of plastic with a magnetic strip on the back, accepted by credit card processing services. It is more like a prepaid credit card,
however rather than making an initial financial deposit, a debit card it tied directly into a bank account.
Because no credit is offered by the debit credit card issuer, the debit card holder spends money directly from the credit card holder's bank account. However, it carries a credit card brand name (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover), and can be used in similar ways.
After acquiring a debit card, the debit card holder can continue to use the credit card, and spend money as long as funds remain within their bank account. With debit cards you are not charged any interest, but you may be charged a purchasing fee and/or monthly usage fees.
